Dear fellow watch collectors, watch nerds and horological enthusiasts… we are in the so-called golden age of watch review blogs. Since the dawn of the internet, people have been writing about watches in ultra-nerdy detail. One of the most celebrated (and sometimes derided) mediums for these armchair experts is the watch blog.
These websites inform, educate and entertain a growing audience who cannot get enough information about every aspect of watches. From how watches work, to watch reviews, to opinions about what makes the best watch… it’s all out there to be found. Many of the Best Horology and Watch Blogs have been around for almost 10 years and have quite a back catalog of reviews that can still be relevant if you are hunting for an older watch. Some of the blogs, like my WatchHunter blog are passion projects of a single person while other blogs have full teams of journalists and artists. There is a wide gamut of quality and style, and you should be able to find a watch blog that matches fits your taste.
Many of the Best Horology and Watch Blogs specialize in one aspect of watch collecting or another. They might be experts on one brand, style of watch or era of watches. Ariel Adams and the rest of the gang at Ablogtowatch.com have been making watch content in for the form of long format articles and videos seemingly since the internet was powered by coal! Dig in and enjoy a tidal wave of watch reviews and industry-related content! You will never, ever read all of the articles, but this is a cornerstone of internet blogs. Make sure to read the lively comments that can be as entertaining and informative as any of the published articles.
Hodinkee
Hodinkee is practically a household name nowadays. Even people who do not collect watches might recognize this internet blog phenomenon by name. These guys have transcended from watch nerds on the fringe to mainstream tastemakers being quoted by newspapers and magazines. Their watch content falls into the category of serious journalism. You will find reviews and interviews with VIPs and interesting people. The vibe of Hodinkee’s articles is “rich guy toys” so don’t be surprised if you see cufflinks or a bowtie. Still, there is no denying that there is great content to be had on this channel. Wonderfully geeky and slightly serious.
Monochrome Watches
Monochrome Watches runs in the deeper end of the horological pool focusing on high-end watchmaking by independents. Behind-the-scenes and watch fair coverage is also shown. High-end interests are pursued here and it describes itself as an online magazine dedicated to fine watches. That says it all.
Roverhaven
Funny, sincere and deftly detailed in his descriptions, Myron, the owner, and writer of Roverhaven.com is a real-deal watch enthusiast. I have personally used his articles to help me decide whether I would purchase a watch or not. The watches reviewed are more on the tool watch side of the spectrum so you won’t find any diamond-encrusted wrist bling here. Thank goodness! What you will find is honestly and that goes a long way to having an authentic voice when reviewing watches. Roverhaven.com is also home to handmade, high-quality leather straps. Definitely worth checking out!
Fratello Watches
The unofficial experts on everything “Speedmaster”. While Fratello Watches reviews other watch brands and models, they are renowned in the watch world as the authority on the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. Even Omega took notice of them and named one of their watches as the Speedy Tuesday Speedmaster in their honor. Talk about becoming famous! You can expect great photography, writing and a Jedi-master depth of knowledge. This should be on your list of daily watch reading.
The Naked Watchmaker
Before you get excited, The Naked Watchmaker is not the typical site you would think with a name like that. This is the passion project the celebrated watchmaker, Peter Speake-Marin, so you know it going to have seriously good content such as movement deconstructions, interviews with other watchmakers and a celebration of turning gears and springs. “The goal of the site is to bring to a new generation the magic and passion of watchmaking and to increase the knowledge of those already bitten by the horological bug.” I think it does that with flare in both English and French.
Professional Watches
News, short watch reviews, great photos, and reviews of some of the most popular watches on sale today. These guys do it all with a very large web site. Fast reading.
Tide+Time Watches
These Aussies like to have fun while discussing watches. They have a great watch blog and YouTube Channel as well. I like the hints of humor and mild sarcasm strewn throughout the videos, and the watch reviews feature gorgeous photography and solid writing. These guys prove you don’t have to be stuffy to be serious about watches.
Two Broke Watch Snobs
Mike and Kaz are two of the coolest watch collecting dudes around. They are the hosts of the popular Two Broke Watch Snobs podcast and they also have an up and coming blog that reviews many of the watches featured on the podcast. Their warped sense of humor and outlook on life will put you in a better mood… guaranteed. Check them out today and show them some love in the comments section.
The Urban Gentry
This guy must be doing something right with the number of subscribers and Youtube viewers that he has. The main contributor is a dynamic British chap by the name of TGV a.k.a “the governor” who has been producing content since 2014. The videos are inclusive of affordable to luxury watches. The Urban Gentry blog was originally made to cover lifestyle subjects, but watch-related content soon took over. Great coverage of current watches and interviews.
Watch Hunter
Considering that you are already reading this article on the Watch Hunter blog, you might consider checking out some of the articles, opinions and watch reviews on this site. The Watch Hunter blog reviews many watch brands but specializes in vintage Swiss Army watches, and Victorinox Swiss Army watches. There are a Swiss Army Watch Identifier database and lots of reference materials on the site including manuals, catalogs and old ad references.

Billed as “America’s number one watch magazine”, WatchTime watch blog looks slick and professional. This website is derived from a print magazine and the contributors have years of experience writing about watches and the industry. There is watch reviews, watch news, event coverage, a glossary, a pronunciation guide. Seriously, this is almost a one-stop shop for watch nerds. That is assuming you like luxury watches. Watchuseek
Excellent watch reviews and watch-related event coverage from the guys associated the Watchuseek forum, the most visited watch forum in the world. These experts know a thing or two about watches. If you already don’t participate in the WUS forum, then start here to get a takes of the sweet watch nerdery available for free. The watch reviews are particularly good, and it might make you want to sign up on the forum yourself. They make great video review too. Enough said.

The non-conformists of the watch blog world. These guys review some of the best affordable watches in the world, and they cater to microbrand and well-designed watches.
